LAGRANGE, Ga. – Junior-transfer outside hitter
Ella Sprouse (Sneads, Fla.) of the LaGrange College women's volleyball team has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Player of the Week for the week ending September 27
th in an announcement by the conference on Monday.
It is the second time this season that Sprouse – in just her first year with the Panthers – has earned CCS POTW honors. She was previously recognized two weeks ago for the period ending September 13
th.
Sprouse, a Psychological Science major, powered LaGrange to a 2-0 week in CCS play with wins over Agnes Scott and Piedmont, totaling 29 kills while hitting .423 across seven sets. She averaged 4.14 kills and 3.43 digs per set while adding two service aces and four block assists. Sprouse currently ranks fourth in the CCS in kills per set.
The Panthers – who came into this season having never claimed a CCS Player of the Week award – have now won three in the first four weeks of the season. Sprouse's two wins join sophomore middle-blocker
Kaitlyn Smith (Buckeye, Ariz.), who was named POTW for the opening week of the season.
With a 2-1 conference record, the Panthers are tied for second in the CCS standings.
LaGrange is back on the court on Wednesday when they host Huntingdon College in a 7:00 p.m. match.
