GAME 1 – LAGRANGE 21, COVENANT 7
  • The Panthers exploded for 21 runs in game one, their highest offensive total of the season and the most they've scored since March 14th of last season against Asbury University. A ten-run top of the third gave LaGrange the lead for good.
  • Graduate leftfielder Jorge Fragoso (East Point, Ga.), last week's CCS Player of the Week, went three-for-four for the Panthers with a home run, two doubles, a sacrifice fly and four RBI.
  • Freshman right fielder Matthew Brown (Marietta, Ga.) had three hits with two doubles and four RBI.
  • Freshman second baseman Collin McGhee (Ball Ground, Ga.) had a pair of doubles, driving in three runs.
  • Freshman centerfielder Tanner Morneau (Marietta, Ga.) had four hits with a double, a stolen base and two RBI.
  • Senior catcher Carson Burgamy (Woodstock, Ga.) had four hits with two doubles and three runs scored.
  • Senior shortstop Jackson McElvy (Kennesaw, Ga.) had three hits with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored.
  • Senior third baseman Colin Jones (Duluth, Ga.) had three hits with a double, an RBI and three runs scored.
GAME 2 – LAGRANGE 14, COVENANT 9
  • Down 8-6 entering the top of the seventh of game two, the Panthers' potent lineup came alive once again, exploding for eight runs. Senior first baseman Curt Bonner (Cartersville, Ga.) led off the inning with a solo home run, his first of the season. Five batters later, Burgamy stepped to the plate with two outs and two runners on and singled to left to drive in Morneau. Two batters later, McGhee drew a bases loaded hit by pitch as Fragoso crossed home plate, giving LaGrange the lead. On the very next at bat, an RBI fielder's choice from McElvy saw Burgamy score. Bonner stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and doubled in three more runs to go up 13-8. Finally, Bonner would score from third off a wild pitch, and that would prove to be all the offense the Panthers would need.
  • Bonner finished with four hits and seven RBI in a dominant performance.
  • Morneau added three hits and a walk.
