LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College baseball team lost 8-2 to visiting Emory University in a non-conference bout on Tuesday night at Cleaveland Field in Phil Williamson Stadium in LaGrange, Georgia.
THE BASICS
Score: Emory 8, LaGrange 2
Records: Panthers 6-4 | Eagles 4-4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman pitcher Aiden Pluff (Richmond Hill, Ga.) faced off with Emory junior JT Rattigan (Windmere, Fla.) on the mound.
- The two exchanged a pair of clean innings before the Eagles scored a pair of runs in the top of the third.
- Emory made it 3-0 before LC finally plated their first run in the bottom of the fifth after junior shortstop Michael DeFrancisco (Winder, Ga.) scored redshirt freshman Matthew Brown (Marietta, Ga.) off a sac-fly to make it 3-1.
- The two teams traded runs in the proceeding two innings as LaGrange trailed just 4-2 heading into the eighth.
- Unfortunately for the Red and Black, a collapse in the top of the ninth put them in too big of a hole as they would ultimately fall to EU 8-2.
UP NEXT
- LaGrange is back on the field this weekend when they travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. to take on rivals NC Wesleyan University for a three-game series.
