LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College softball team opened their 2026 season on Sunday with a double-header against visiting Emory University in non-conference action at the LC Softball Complex in LaGrange, Georgia.
GAME 1 – EMORY 10, LAGRANGE 3
- Down 2-0 in the bottom of the first of game one, the Panthers got on the board when freshman designated player Addison Gibboney (Kennesaw, Ga.) singled to right center to drive in senior second baseman Claire Chamberlain (Rome, Ga.). Three batters later, senior pitcher Jenna Yeary (Loganville, Ga.) hit an RBI groundout to plate sophomore shortstop Cannon Ramsey (Tallahassee, Fla.), tying the game up at 2-2.
- Down 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, sophomore centerfielder Addi Grace Dennis (Grayson, Ga.) scored off an error, tying the game up once again.
- But the Eagles plated five in the top of the sixth off a costly error, then two more in the top of the seventh to take game one.
GAME 2 – EMORY 6, LAGRANGE 1
- Down 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth of game one, Dennis hit an RBI infield single to plate freshman left fielder Bri Totty (Hurtsboro, Ala.).
- It proved to be the only run for the Panthers, as they were unable to get any closer in a 6-0 loss.
UP NEXT
- LaGrange is back on the field on Wednesday when they play host to another regional power in Berry College in a 3:00 p.m. double-header.
