LaGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College men's basketball team lost 85-64 to visiting Maryville College on Saturday afternoon in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action at historic Mariotti Gymnasium in LaGrange, Georgia.
THE BASICS
Score: Maryville 85, LaGrange 64
Records: Panthers 8-5, 1-1 CCS | Scots 11-4, 2-0 CCS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to repeat their offensive showcase from the night before, LC worked hard to throw the first punch against the 25th-ranked Scots. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they were unable to capitalize on key lay-ins and free throws as the Scots continued to drain three's down the stretch. LaGrange would ultimately trail 40-27 at the half.
- Despite a promising start to the second frame, Maryville continued to suffocate the Red and Black's comeback efforts, securing the rout victory and handing the Panthers just their fifth loss of the season, their first in conference play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- LaGrange junior forward Devin Dowell (LaGrange, Ga.) posted 14 points on the night.
- Senior forward Trenton Dillard (Jonesboro, Ga.) led the team with seven rebounds.
