THE BASICS

Records:             Panthers 2-11, 0-0 CCS | Skyhawks 11-7, 1-3 SSAC

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Panthers came out of the gate fighting in the first set. Despite falling behind 11-9, an 8-2 run largely off the serve of sophomore outside hitter Ella Kahikina (Tampa, Fla.) saw them surge into the lead. LC closed out the set with a pair of kills from freshman middle-blocker Kaitlyn Smith (Buckeye, Ariz.) and an ace by sophomore setter Julia Damico (North Port, Fla.).
  • Despite taking a 10-7 in the second set, the Panthers would find themselves in a battle as the Skyhawks pushed to a 17-14 lead. LaGrange would tie it up off the serve of freshman outside hitter Alex Krabs (Boynton Beach, Fla.). But Point would hold them off down the stretch to seize the set and momentum.
  • In the third, the teams were knotted at 12-12 before Point took control with an 8-1 run off of the serve of senior defensive specialist Lexi Arter (Chattanooga, Tenn.). LaGrange was unable to answer.
  • In the fourth set, the Skyhawks took the early lead. Despite a gritty effort by the Panthers, they were unable to find an answer.

  • LaGrange freshman outside hitter Jasmine Gross (Antioch, Tenn.) led the Panthers with 11 kills and five block assists while Kahikina had ten kills with a .350 hitting percentage. Smith had eight kills with a .412 hitting and six block assists.
