MONTGOMERY, Ala. - LaGrange's 2025 season ended with a 4-2 loss to Piedmont in the CSS Softball Tournament on Thursday evening. The Panthers finished the season 18-22 overall and 8-8 in CCS play.Â
Seniors
Alexa Gonzalez,
Kenzie Hornsby,
Breonn Newbille, Abby Vanhoosse, and
Zoe Veres played their final game for the Panthers. Hornsby, Newbille, and Veres each had a base hit in the game.
Piedmont built a 4-0 lead off starter
Jenna Yeary (9-6). The Lions carried the lead into the seventh inning.
Kayla Helms doubled with one out to start the Panthers' rally. Hornsby's two-out single through the left side scored Vanhoose, who was pinch-running for Helms, for LC's first run. Newbille followed with her base hit to drive in Hornsby to make it 4-2. But the Lions secured the final out to end the game.
The Panthers played a demanding schedule in 2025. They defeated nationally-ranked Gettysburg at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic early in the season. In addition, the Panthers faced ninth-ranked Huntingdon and 15th-ranked Belhaven in CCS play.
