MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry stopped LaGrange 6-3 in a non-conference game Monday at Bowdoin Field. The Panthers are now 13-10, while Berry improved to 13-9.
All the scoring came in the first three innings. LaGrange took a 1-0 lead in the first.
David Smigelski doubled down the left field line with one out. Smigelski moved over to third on a ground out and came home on
Curt Bonner's single.
The Panthers upped their lead to 2-0 in the second. They loaded the bases with no outs but got only one run on
Adam Dorn's sacrifice fly that scored
Dylan LeMorta, who had led off the inning with a single.
Berry came back in the bottom of the second with four runs off starter
Connell White (1-2). The Panthers made it 4-3 with a run in the third. Bonner went the opposite way to right field for his fourth home run of the season.
The Vikings added two insurance runs in the bottom of the third for a 6-3 lead. The Panthers biggest threat came in the eighth when they left the bases loaded.
Bonner and
Riley George each had two hits. The Panthers finished with eight hits.
