LaGRANGE, Ga. - Emory handed LaGrange its third straight loss, beating the Panthers 12-3 at Cleaveland Field at Williamson Stadium on Tuesday. The loss drops the Panthers to 4-6, while the Eagles improved to 6-4.
Emory banged out 13 hits and took advantage of four errors by the Panthers.
Connell White (0-1), the first of six pitchers for LC, took the loss. White allowed three runs, only one earned, in three innings.
Parker Copeland and
Benjamin Epperley, the last two pitchers, each threw a scoreless inning.
The Panthers had nine hits in the game.
Adam Dorn and
David Smigelski each had two hits. Dorn also had an RBI and
Colby Zinser had a run-scoring single.
The Eagles built a 7-0 lead by the fourth inning. Zinser's base hit in the bottom of the inning scored
Curt Bonner with the Panthers' first run.
LC closed out the scoring in the seventh inning.
Jorge Fragoso led off the inning with a single to left.
Noah Preuer put runners of the corners with a base hit up the middle. Fragoso came home as
Riley George grounded out. Dorn followed with his RBI single to drive in Preuer.
The Panthers host N.C. Wesleyan in a weekend series beginning with a doubleheader Saturday. The first game begins at 2 p.m. with the second game to follow. The series ends Sunday with one game beginning at 2 p.m.
