Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The LaGrange College men's basketball team won 94-86 against Welch College in non-conference action at the Pensacola Classic hosted by Pensacola Christian College on Saturday evening at the Arlin R. Horton Sports Center in Pensacola, Florida. The Panthers of LaGrange run their record to 3-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down 52-46 at the half, the Panthers chipped away at the deficit in the early minutes of the second half, finally taking the lead off a series of free throws by LaGrange junior guard Devin Dowell (LaGrange, Ga.) with 15:30 to go to go up 60-59. Welch kept tying it up but LC finally started to pull away with a 15-3 run capped off with a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Tyler Harrington (Winter Park, Fla.) with 6:03 remaining in the game to go up 85-73. The Panthers would never look back.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dowell paced the Panthers with 19 points on the night with seven rebounds and three steals.
- LaGrange junior guard Austen Colton (Sharpsburg, Ga.) posted 15 points with four rebounds.
- Senior forward Parker Gonzalez (Johns Creek, Ga.) finished with 14 points and eight boards while shooting seven-of-ten from the floor.
- Harrington finished with 14 points and seven boards, shooting 50 percent from the floor.
- Rebounding proved critical, as the Panthers enjoyed a 58-31 advantage under the glass.
