FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Playing in the biggest game in school history in 17 years, the Panthers of the LaGrange College football team are traveling to Framingham State University in Massachusetts on Saturday for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers of LaGrange (9-1, 7-0 USA South) qualified for the tournament for the first time since the 2008 season, going undefeated in conference play to claim the USA South Athletic Conference Championship.
Nine Panthers were voted to the USA South all-conference team this week.
Senior defensive back
Deon King Jr. (Vienna, Ga.), senior cornerback
Legend Doggett (McDonough, Ga.), junior offensive lineman
Aaron Hunter (Dothan, Ala.), sophomore linebacker
Ched Smith (Macon, Ga.), sophomore tight end
Mychal Stillwell (Warner Robins, Ga.) and freshman defensive lineman
Zymarion Hudson (Cordele, Ga.) were all voted All-USA South First Team honors while junior quarterback
Henry Brodnax (Newnan, Ga.) and junior running back
Michael Hays (Jacksonville, Fla.) were both voted second team all-conference. Junior linebacker
Dezmond Jones (Thomasville, Ga.) earned Honorable Mention honors.
Hudson was also voted the USA South Defensive Rookie of the Year while freshman quarterback
Kirk Scott (Richmond Hill, Ga.) was voted the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Senior kicker
Landon Eaker (Ringgold, Ga.) led the conference in field goal percentage while ranking third in the entire nation in field goals made per game.
The Rams of Framingham State (7-3, 7-2 MASCAC) earned their automatic qualifier by winning the MASCAC, and they had eight players earn all-conference honors.
Junior defensive back
Amari WIlliams (Boston, Mass.), sophomore defensive lineman
Korrey Barron (Rockwell, Texas) and senior defensive lineman
Kymauny Roland (Canton, Mass.) were selected to the first-team defense, while junior wide receiver
Mathias Fowler (Lynn, Mass.) was selected to the first team offense. Sophomore defensive back
James Wilder (Medfield, Mass.) was named to the second team defense, while sophomore offensive guard
Dylan Burdick (Coventry, RI), junior wide receiver
Alex Maia (Central Falls, RI) and sophomore running back
Jaheim Daniels (Norwalk, Conn.) were named to the second team offense.
Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Bowditch Field in Framingham, Massachusetts.
