Women’s Volleyball Ends Season in CCS Semis

WILMORE, Ky. - The LaGrange College women's volleyball team saw their 2025 season come to an end on Friday evening in the semifinals of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Championship Tournament with a four-set loss to top-seeded Asbury University at the Luce Center Gymnasium in Wilmore, Kentucky.

THE BASICS
Score:                  #4 LaGrange College 1, #1 Asbury 3 (25-13, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14)
Records:             Panthers 13-20, 10-6 CCS | Eagles 21-7, 15-1 CCS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After dropping the first set, the Panthers stormed back in the second, taking a 6-2 lead off the serving of LaGrange sophomore libero Emma Campbell (Killen, Ala.). Later when the Eagles closed to pull to within one at 7-6, a kill by LaGrange freshman outside hitter Alex Krabs (Boynton Beach, Fla.) gave them the serve back and allowed LC to reel off five more rallies behind the serving of sophomore setter Rebecca Miranda (Snellville, Ga.) to take a 13-6 lead with Krabs getting four of those points off kills. Not to be outdone, the Eagles rallied, taking a 24-21 lead to set up set point. With their backs to the wall, a solo block by Krabs gave the Panthers the serve back again, and she held serve on the next four points a kill from senior middle-hitter Zentrina Choice (Sumter, S.C.), playing in the final match of her collegiate career, taking set point.
  • After falling 25-16 in the third set, the Panthers took a 6-5 lead in the fourth behind a kill from Campbell. The Eagles responded with an 11-4 run and never looked back.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The 2025 season saw the Panthers, picked to finish seventh in the CCS Coaches' Preseason Poll, post their best year in a decade as they went 10-6 in conference play to claim the fourth seed, with their quarterfinals win over Huntingdon College representing their first playoff victory since the 2016 season when they were still playing in the USA South Athletic Conference.
  • Krabs finished her thrilling rookie campaign with ten kills and 15 digs, finishing third in the conference in kills per set. Krabs earned All-CCS first team honors in just her rookie season.
  • LaGrange sophomore setter Julia Damico (North Port, Fla.) finished with 18 set assists and 13 digs, finishing a year that saw her voted CCS Setter of the Year as well as joining Krabs on the first team All-Conference list.
  • Freshman outside hitter Jasmine Gross (Antioch, Tenn.) contributed eight kills to complete her rookie campaign, finishing second on the team in kills and kills per set.
  • Sophomore libero Isabella Zentkovich (Sharpsburg, Ga.) posted 16 digs and no reception errors in one of her best performances of the season.
  • Freshman middle-blocker Kaitlyn Smith (Buckeye, Ariz.) had four kills. The rookie made second team All-Conference honors.
