LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College football team is playing host to Brevard College in a USA South Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday at Callaway Stadium in LaGrange, Georgia with kickoff coming at 1:00 p.m. The game will be the centerpiece of LaGrange's Homecoming Weekend, with the Homecoming court recognized during halftime of the game.
The Panthers are coming off a 26-7 win at Methodist University last Saturday, running their season record to 4-1 with a 2-0 record in the USA South standings. LaGrange posted a season-high eight sacks in the contest, helping to establish themselves as the best team in the conference in defensive team passing efficiency.
LaGrange junior quarterback
Henry Brodnax (Newnan, Ga.) currently ranks second in the league in passing yards and passing yards per game, while ranking third in passing touchdowns and passing yards per completions.
After a slow start, the running back duo of juniors
Michael Hays (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Tacaris Bozeman (Montgomery, Ala.) have emerged as a force, leading a unit that averages 114.4 yards per game, ranking them fourth in the conference statistics.
Freshman wide receiver
Dami'on Thompson (Atlanta, Ga.) continues to spark the Panther receiving corps, as he scored two touchdowns against the Monarchs last week and continues to lead the USA South in yards per reception with 23.67. Senior wide receiver
Ashton Bryant (Athens, Ga.) had a breakout game at Methodist, catching three passes for a career-high 114 yards.
The Panther offensive line currently ranks tops in the conference in fewest sacks allowed.
Senior kicker
Landon Eaker (Ringgold, Ga.) has been the model of consistency, ranking first in the USA South in field goal percentage and second in the entire nation in field goals per game.
Junior linebacker
Dezmond Jones (Thomasville, Ga.) leads the Panthers in tackles for a loss (6.0) while ranking tied for the team lead in sacks with four alongside sophomore linebacker
Ched Smith (Macon, Ga.) who leads the team with 34 tackles and three quarterback hurries.
Brevard (3-2, 1-1 USA South) will look to senior quarterback
Ethan Beamish (Simpsonville, S.C.), who leads the Tornadoes with eleven passing touchdowns against just two interceptions, averaging 219.60 passing yards per game. Sophomore running back
Zion Fauntleroy-McDaniel (Hendersonville, N.C.) leads their rushing attack with 329 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
Sophomore defensive back
Brandon Broughton (Lawrenceville, Ga.) is coming off a week that saw him earn USA South Defensive Player of the Week honors. Broughton leads the Tornadoes with 33 tackles.
