LAGRANGE, Ga. - Women's Basketball (9-6, 3-3 Collegiate Conference of the South) fell to visiting Asbury (6-7, 3-1 CSS) on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 18) in Mariotti Gym.
Game Summary
The Panthers had three players in double figures, led by
Zyhia Johnson's 14 points. Amanda McClendon and
Kendra Roberts each had double-doubles. McClendon had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Roberts had 12 points and 10 rebounds also.
LC scored the first eight points of the game. Asbury came back with a 7-0 run of its own to get back in the game. The Eagles used the three-point arc to take a 20-15 lead after one period. The Eagles continued to build on their lead in the second period, taking a 36-22 halftime lead.
Asbury took its biggest lead of the game, 39-22, two minutes into the third period. The Panthers rallied to tie the game with an 11-0 run that spanned the end of the third period and the start of the fourth. Robert's running jumper in the lane tied the game at 46 with 6:45 left.
Asbury responded with four quick points to take the lead for good. Johnson's layup with 2:08 left brought the Panthers within two, 54-52. The Eagles scored their final six points from the free throw line to put the game away.
Kenzie England's three-pointer at the buzzer provided the 62-57 final score.

Johnson led LC with 14 points. She added eight rebounds, three assists and a steal.
