Panthers Volleyball drops two against Randolph and Greensboro

The LaGrange College Women's Volleyball Team (3-6) were bested in back-to-back matches against the Randolph College Wildcats (6-4) and the Greensboro College Pride (7-3) Saturday afternoon (Sept. 14).

Match One Details
The Panthers came within three points of winning the first set against Randolph, after taking a 22-21 lead late in the set. LaGrange suddenly found themselves behind 24-22 with RC pressing to finish them off. Despite a clutch kill from Zentrina Choice to bring the score within one, the Wildcats were able to fend off LC to take the first set 25-23.

Randolph seemingly took control in the second set, leading at one point by as much as eight. The Panthers refused to quit and stormed their way back to make the score 23-20 in favor of the Wildcats. Unfortunately for LaGrange, however, the late push was once again denied as RC walked away with the second set 25-20.

The third set was all RC as they took the final frame with an emphatic 25-10 victory, winning the match 3-0

Match Two Details
LaGrange fought hard with the Pride of GC, as they tied it at 15-15 after falling behind by eight points early in the first set. Greensboro would end the first set on a 10-4 run, however, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Greensboro started right where they left off in the second set, hitting LaGrange with another 10-4 run to open things up. The Panthers would rattle off 12 more points in an attempt to crawl back into the set before it was all said and done, but could not keep pace with RC as they took the second stanza 25-16.

The third time would ultimately not be the charm for LC, as they were unable to affect the match score in the third, dropping the final set 25-17 and the match 3-0.

Top Panther Performers
Isabella Zentkovich earned ten digs and three assists in the first match.

Julia Damico enjoyed a double-digit day defensively as well with 11 digs and three service aces.

Next Match
The Panthers will be back in action next week when the reserves travel up the road to take on Point University on Wednesday (Sept. 18).
