McAllister earns career-high performance as Panthers fall in opening tilt of Emory Shootout

ATLANTA, Ga. - The LaGrange College Men's Basketball Team (4-7) was bested in the opening game of the Emory Shootout on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 29) by the Union College Garnet Chargers (4-5), losing in the final seconds by a final score of 73-71.

Game Summary
Both teams traded blows to open the contest, as LaGrange overcame a five-point deficit to take an 11-10 lead early in the first half. The Panthers could not quite capitalize on the momentum shift, as Union College burst out to a 16-6 run to hold a 10-point cushion midway through the half. LC would not go down that easily, however, storming back to regain the lead thanks to timely threes from Jace Herrell and Tyler Harrington to close out the first half on top 39-38.

The battle continued in the second half, as the Panthers fought hard to hold off the Garnet Chargers. Tyler Harrington ensured his team would retain the lead, draining an electrifying three-pointer to put LC up 60-57 with 10 minutes left in regulation. Things came to a head in the final few minutes of the game, as the Panthers fell behind and found themselves fighting to fend off a surging Union College team. Despite late game heroics from Micah McAllister, the Panthers were unable to rally as the Garnet Chargers scored with six seconds left in the contest to win 73-71.

Panthers of the Game
Micah McAllister scored a career-high 25 points, in addition to two steals, four assists and seven rebounds to the junior Newnan, Ga native's credit.

Jace Herrell also had a solid showing on the court with 11 points, six rebounds and a handful of timely threes on the afternoon for the junior guard.
