Panthers fall on the road to Berry College

LaGrange College Men's Basketball dropped tonight's (Nov. 12) away game to Berry College 76-68, bringing the LC record to 0-2.

Game Details
LaGrange opened tonight's road game by jumping out to a 9-5 lead after the Panthers scored three consecutive shots highlighted by a Kani Rashied-Henry three-pointer. The Vikings quickly recovered, taking a tight advantage over LC. The BC lead ballooned to 30-19 after the hosts went on a scoring run from the 12-minute mark to the seventh. LaGrange responded by attacking the rim with hard driving layups that were accompanied with steals by sophomore guards Kameron McCall and Samuel Moss. Before the hosts knew it, LC had a 31-30 advantage with three minutes remaining in the half. At the break, BC held a 42-36 lead. Sophomore guard Shaun Nichols finished the first with a team-high 12 points, shooting 56% from two and 25% from beyond the arc. Freshman forward Kani Rashied-Henry also put together a strong showing, accounting for a team-high five rebounds, three assists and three blocks, in addition to hitting his lone shot, which was also a three.

Sophomore guard Devin Dowell got the Panthers started in the second half by hitting a free throw and then a field goal, cutting the BC lead to 42-39. Berry countered by tallying a pair of three-pointers and a slam dunk to go up 52-39, but the Vikings were not out of the woods yet. The tenacious LC squad responded by going back to the rim, this time with an alley-oop from junior guard Micah McAllister to Rashied-Henry. This was followed up by a Moss two-point floater and multiple driving LaGrange layups, dashing the Berry lead to just 59-55 with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Panthers continued to battle, but each time LC brought it within one possession, Berry answered. With under five minutes left, the hosts held a 71-64 advantage. The Vikings went on to win 76-68.
