Scouting Report
The Panthers improved to 2-3 (2-1 USA South) following the 31-9 road victory over North Carolina Wesleyan University (Oct. 12).Â
Sophomore QB Henry Brodnax finished the day completing a career-high 63% of his passes for 255 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Through five games, Brodnax has completed 72 of his 139 passes (52%) for 820 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. Senior wide receiver Jasharie Anderson leads the team with three touchdowns and 276 yards on 13 catches. Both junior wideout Ashton Bryant and freshman tight end Mychal Stillwell have been go-to targets as well. Bryant secured a team-high 24 completions for 250 yards and two touchdowns, while Stillwell has snatched 13 catches for 139 yards. In last week's win (Oct. 12), Stilwell caught a career-high six passes for 83 yards, crowning him the USA South Offensive Rookie of the Week. Running back Goldman Butler VI also had a standout performance, rushing for 125 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry and scoring a career-high three touchdowns. Through five games, the senior back rushed for 378 yards and tied his single-season touchdown record (5).Â
Last weekend (Oct. 12), the LC defense etched themselves in the record books against NCWU, posting arguably a top-ten performance in the program's history. The Panthers forced three interceptions, held the in-conference competition to just 85 rushing yards and under ten points for the first time since 2013. Graduate student linebacker Desmond Fogle leads the team with 40 tackles, followed by sophomore linebacker Desmond Jones (32) and senior defensive back Nemo Ceasar (28). Out of the Panther's 33 tackles for a loss, Jones and freshman linebacker Ched Smith each have secured a team-high 6.5. The team has tallied nine turnovers, with sophomore Jaden Sanders leading the way with two interceptions.Â
After dropping their opening game 51-30 to Hampden Sydney College (Sept. 14), the
Tornados of Brevard College have won three straight, posting a 3-1 (3-0 USA South) record.Â
At quarterback is junior Ethan Beamish. Since transferring from Limestone University (2023), the talented play caller has commanded a stellar offense. Last season, Beamish earned Second Team All-Conference honors after going 209-for-333 (63%) on passing attempts for 2,697 yards, 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. This set Brevard's single-season records for passing yards and touchdowns. In four appearances, Beamish has completed 68 of his 104 passes (65%) for 1078 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions (one in each game). The 2023 USA South First Team All-Conference selection, Zachary Orr, has continued to be a centerpiece of the Tornados offense. In four games, the graduate student wideout has caught 25 passes for 535 yards and five touchdowns. This equates to 52% of Beamish's passing yards, 39% of his touchdowns and 37% of the QB's completions. Splitting time at running back for the Tornados is senior UT-Martin transfer Jadien Deaton and graduate student Chancellor Lee-Parker. Deaton has produced one touchdown and a team-high 350 yards, averaging a stellar 7.8 yards on his 45 attempts. Lee-Parker leads the team with seven touchdowns in addition to 318 yards on 53 carries.Â
Through four games, the Tornados defense has forced six turnovers and held opponents to a 95 rushing yard average (342 total yard average).
