The LaGrange College Football team suffered a 56-17 loss to conference foe Maryville on Saturday, falling to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. 

The game, on Homecoming weekend, started out sour for the Panthers. Within 10 minutes of play, LC faced a 14-point deficit of 21-7 after three quick Maryville touchdowns. The Panthers held the Scots out of the end zone for the next 20 minutes of play, until running back Tad Logan Jr. scored with 17 seconds left to extend the Maryville lead to 21 at the break. 

The second half didn't fare much better for the Panthers. LaGrange was outscored by Maryville 7-3 in the third quarter and 21-7 in the fourth quarter to make the final 56-17. 

The Panthers struggled offensively, only picking up 279 total yards, averaging less than five yards per play. Quarterback Shedrick Lindsey threw for 228 yards on 28 attempts and two touchdowns.

The leading rusher for the Panthers was Aubrey Carter, amassing 48 yards on seven carries. The leading receiver was freshman Toriano Bias, who had 79 receiving yards on two catches, including a 73-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, the longest play from scrimmage all season for LaGrange. 

The defense struggled as well, giving up 559 total yards and 56 points, tied for the most allowed this season. Roderick Kirkland and Isaiah Screen led the Panthers with 11 tackles. Klynell Johnson led the team in tackles for loss, amassing 2.5 TFLs. 

Panther kicker Alex Rivera had a career-day, booting a school-record 52-yard field goal in the third quarter. He also booted a 60-yard punt in the first quarter and averaged 37 yards per punt. 

The Panthers will take the week off and then travel to Brevard on October 22^.
