Box Score Junior wide receiver Josh Hardrick set a new school record as LaGrange took on USA South leader Huntingdon at Callaway Stadium on Saturday.
Hardrick had a record 12 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 31-14 loss to the Hawks (5-1, 3-0 USA South). He broke Griffin Roelle's mark of 11 set last season against Birmingham-Southern.
Ervens Oge also set a milestone for the Panthers. The junior wide receiver had three catches to become the school's career leader in receptions with 127, passing Roelle's total of 126.
The two teams had a defensive struggle in the first half. Drew Lewiski's 14-yard run was the only touchdown of the half. Lewiski's run capped an eight play 89-yard drive in the second quarter. Huntingdon got on the board with a field goal as the Panthers took a 7-3 lead into halftime.
The Hawks got two quick scores in the third quarter to take a 17-7 lead. The Panthers answered with a scoring drive of their own to cut lead to three.
Connor Blair hit Hardrick down the sideline for a 33-yard touchdown strike with 5:13 left in the third quarter to make it 17-14. The pass capped a 71-yard drive in just nine plays.
Huntingdon added a touchdown in the closing seconds of the quarter to go up 24-14. The Hawks used a long time-consuming drive for their final touchdown in the fourth quarter for the 31-14 final.
The Panthers (1-4, 1-1 USA South) play at Ferrum next Saturday in a USA South game.
