Volleyball: Panthers down Point 3-1 to get first win of season

SEWANEE, Tenn. - LaGrange got its first win of the 2014 season, topping Point 3-1 on Saturday. The win was also the first for head coach Jamie Thomas.

The Panthers (1-7) took the first set 25-16. Point tied the match with a second set win, but the Panthers closed out the victory by taking the next two sets 25-23 and 25-20.

Junior Kaitlyn Sitterson and freshman Danyelle Carr led the Panthers with nine kills each. Sophomore Nachelle Roberts added eight more.

Mary Katherine Schmitz had 31 assists in the match, while Sterling Ancrum had a team-high 15 digs.

The Panthers play at Toccoa Falls on Tuesday and at Agnes Scott on Wednesday. They travel to Selma, Ala. on Friday and Saturday for three matches.
