LaGrange used a fourth quarter rally to down North Carolina Wesleyan 24-17 at Callaway Stadium on Saturday. The win evened the Panthers' season record to 2-2, while the Bishops slipped to 0-3.

The Panthers had a 97-yard touchdown drive to tie the game, then the defense got a key interception to set up the winning score. Kent Gibson scored from 10 yards out following the interception for the game-winner with 1:21 left.

Russ then passed 31 yards to Devin Billings to midfield. Two plays later, Russ bounced off would-be tacklers for a 20-yard gain to the Bishops' 27. He passed for seven yards to Charlie Sashington and a roughing the passer penalty moved the ball to the Bishops' 9.

On third and goal, Duncan scored from the three to finish the six-minute 12-play 97-yard drive. Drake Nahrwold's extra point tied the game at 17-17 with 5:38 left.

The Panther defense made its biggest play of the game on the Bishops' ensuing possession. On third down. Chris Vernet intercepted Jackson's pass with a finger tip catch going out of bounds at the Bishops' 34.

Staying on the ground, the Panthers covered the 34 yards in seven plays. Gibson kept the drive going with two first down runs on third down. He went up the middle standing into the end zone from 10 yards to put the Panthers up 24-17.

The Bishops' gained one first down after the kickoff. But Jackson misfired on four straight passes to end any chance for the Bishops.

The Panthers scored first in the game. Duncan scored from the 6 after a short 46-yard drive. The Bishops took a 10-7 lead on a 59-yard pass from Jackson to Jarrius Coffield and a 35-yard field by Quicker. Nahrwold tied the game late in the second quarter with a 23-yard field goal.
