Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon rolled past LaGrange 45-10 with a big second half Saturday at Samford Stadium. The Panthers fell to 3-6 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 7-2.
Huntingdon had 548 yards of total offense in the game. Quarterback Neal Posey was 17-for-20 for 353 yards and two touchdowns. Cody Pearcy had six receptions for 233 yards and three touchdowns.
Kent Gibson had a career-high 232 all-purpose yards for the Panthers. Gibson had a team-high 70 yards rushing on 14 carries and a touchdown. He added 156 yards in kick returns.
Sophomore linebacker Andre Carter set a new LaGrange team record for tackles in a season. Carter had seven tackles in the game; giving him 84 on the season. He broke Justin Pair's record of 79 set in 2007.
The Panthers trailed 14-0 before getting on the board late in the first quarter. Drake Nahrwold kicked a 31-yard field goal to make it 14-3 at the end of the quarter.
The Panthers cut the deficit to 14-10 in the second quarter. Carter caused Posey to fumble on a sack and recovered the ball for the Panthers at the Hawks' 27.
The Panthers needed 10 plays to cover the 27 yards. D.D. McMillian picked up three yards on a fourth down at the 6. Gibson finished the drive with a 1-yard plunge on another fourth down play with 7:06 left in the half. The scored remained 14-10 at halftime.
The Hawks broke the game open in the third quarter. Trevor Manuel, who rushed for 128 yards in the game. went 68-yards for a score on the Hawks' first play of the half to make it 21-10.
Pearcy had two long scoring plays to open up a 35-10 lead for the Hawks. He went 65 yards on a pass from Posey and scored on a 39-yard pass from Manuel.
The Panthers close out the season at Ave Maria (Fla.) next Saturday.
