Lacrosse: Berry holds off Panthers' second half rally

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry built an early lead and held off LaGrange's rally in the second for a 16-11 non-conference win Tuesday. The loss evened the Panthers' record at 2-2, while the Vikings are now 2-0.

Davida White tied with Berry's Keiley Ayers for game honors with four goals. Brie Shepler and Rachael Thomas each had three goals for LC. Cierra Towe faced 30 shots in goal for the Panthers and had 14 saves. She had eight of the saves in the second half, in holding the Vikings to five goals.

Berry opened up a 9-1 lead midway through the first half and led 11-4 at halftime. The Panthers got within four goals on three separate occasions in the second half but could not get closer. 

The Panthers host Salem in a USA South game Saturday at 1 p.m.
