The LaGrange lacrosse team opened its 2018 season with an 18-5 win over visiting St. Andrews (N.C.) on Friday at Panther Field. It marked the second straight year the Panthers have won their season opener.
LC got five goals from Madeline LaCaveran and four each from Davida White and Eva Tallent. Rachael Thomas added three goals, while Brie Shepler and Lauren Sanders had one each. The Panthers had a 39-15 shot advantage in the game.
The two teams swapped goals in the first eight minutes. White's unassisted goal broke a 2-2 tie with 21:23 left in the first half. The Panthers never trailed again, taking a 12-4 halftime lead. In the second half, LC scored three goals in a three-minute span to open up a 15-4 lead. White's goal with two minutes left closed out the scoring.
The Panthers host Brenau on Monday at 5 p.m.
