Senior guard Lauren Johnson was named to the USA South West Division second team as announced by the conference. Fellow senior Austin Richardson was the team's representative on the conference's All-Sportsmanship team.
"I am very pleased for Lauren to be selected. She had worked very hard this season and has had a tremendous career here for the Panthers," Coach Lee Buchanan said. "She was one of my first recruits when I came to LaGrange, so it makes me proud to see her honored. I have enjoyed coaching her and will miss number 14 on the court next season."
Johnson led the Panthers in scoring with a 14.1 points per game average and in nine other categories. She finished in the top 10 in 10 of the school's career lists. Johnson became the fourth Panther to have 1,000 points in her career, finishing with 1,092. She was also fourth in assists with 197 and steals with 163. During this season, Johnson had a career-high 26 points against Wesleyan on Jan. 25.
"I am also so happy for Austin. She is a true competitor but has a terrific attitude about her," said Buchanan. "She is always excited when her teammates do well so she is very deserving of this recognition."
Richardson was fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.9 points per game. She was second on the team with 34 steals and third with 43 assists. Richardson had a season-high 15 points against Huntingdon on Dec. 13.
"These two young ladies have meant so much to me and this program," Buchanan stated. "I know they have been an inspiration to all the players this year. We will miss not having them in uniform next season but they will always be Panthers."
