Women's Basketball: Panthers fall to NAIA Brenau 71-56 in non-conference tilt

NAIA member Brenau beat LaGrange 71-56 in a non-conference game Saturday in Mariotti Gym. It was the fifth straight loss for the Panthers, now 5-5.

Lauren Johnson led three Panthers in double figures with a season-high 22 points. Marilauren Farr followed with 14 and Jaelyn James had 10.

"This was a really tough match-up today with Brenau. They were super quick and athletic and we couldn't match up with them," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "Unfortunately, we looked like we had been off for 14 days and didn't play a solid 40 minutes. The only good news is this was not a conference game but regardless we must play harder and smarter. We have 14 conference games in the second half of the season and every one of them is important.

"We will take the next couple days to work on us and our improvement as a basketball team and then play again on Tuesday night."

Brenau (8-3) got a game-high 24 points from Autumn Dodson. The Tigers took the lead for good just four minutes into the game. They led 39-26 at halftime and built a 62-37 advantage after three periods. The Panthers outscored Brenau 19-9 in the final stanza.
