Women's Basketball: Farr's career high 22 points carries Panthers past Bob Jones

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Marilauren Farr scored a career-high 22 points to lead LaGrange to a 73-60 win over Bob Jones at the Huntingdon College Classic.

Farr was 8-for-14 from the floor and 6-of-7 at the free throw line along with eight rebounds. She was one of four Panthers in double figures. Lauren Johnson added 11 points, while Jaelyn James and Austin Richardson had 10 points each. James tied Farr for game honors with eight rebounds.

"A really good team win for us tonight," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "We had production from each player that saw the court. It was good to see that type of contribution from so many so early in the season.

"Bob Jones is a good team that was averaging a lot of points so I thought our defense was very good tonight. We mixed up our defense and it seemed to have a positive effect."

The Bruins (2-3) led 7-2 two minutes into the game. The Panthers ran off seven straight points, the last three on a trey by Riley Chlupacek and never trailed again. LC led 35-29 at halftime and built a 71-51 lead in the fourth quarter.

"Marilauren and Austin shot the ball very well and helped set the tone for us on offense," Buchanan said. "Anytime you have four players in double figures you put yourself in a position to win. It's good to start the year 1-0. Now we have to be ready for our next game in 24 hours."

The Panthers continue play in the tournament Friday against Pensacola Christian. Tipoff is 5 p.m.
