MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Top-seeded Maryville ended LaGrange's season with a 58-34 win in the USA South Tournament quarterfinals Saturday. The Panthers finished the season 17-10.

LaGrange had its eight game winning streak stopped by the Scots (22-4). The Panthers had their ninth straight season with 15 wins or more.

The Panthers will graduate just one senior, Kelsey Walthall, who led the team Saturday with eight points. The team will return its two leading scorers, junior Lauren Johnson and sophomore Marilauren Farr.

"This was a really tough game tonight, especially on the offensive end. I give a lot of credit to Maryville, they played very well," Coach Lee Buchanan said. "I am disappointed about the outcome of the game, but it doesn't take away from our very good season.

"Our lone senior, Kelsey Walthall, has been a tremendous player and person in our program. Her leadership on and off the court really help this team learn and come together. She is a very good basketball player and I will miss coaching her, however, more importantly she is a quality person."

Maryville controlled the game after the opening minutes. The Panthers tied the game twice in the early going, but the Scots started building on their lead. Maryville led 36-20 at halftime and 49-24 heading to the final period.
