LaGrange fell to Piedmont 78-31 in a USA South game Sunday. The loss left the Panthers 9-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

"We ran into a buzz saw today with Piedmont. It seemed like everything they did went right and everything we did went wrong," Coach Lee Buchanan said. "I give Piedmont a ton of credit with the way they played today. We have to learn from this and move forward. This league is very good and you have to have a short memory on days like this."

Jaelyn James led the Panthers with 7 points, with Marilauren Farr and Jeris Johnson each having 6. Piedmont (13-5, 6-1 USA South) had four players in double figures led by Brianna Barrett's game-high 12 points.

The Panthers play at Maryville on Friday and at Covenant on Saturday in USA South contests. They return home Jan. 31 to face Toccoa Falls in a non-conference game.
