Women's Basketball: Fourth quarter surge sends Panthers past Judson 70-54

PENSACOLA, Fla. - LaGrange surged past Judson in the fourth quarter for a 70-54 win and finish 3-0 at the Pensacola Christian College Classic on Saturday.

Lauren Johnson led the Panthers (3-0) with 17 points, 14 coming in the second half. Marilauren Farr had her second straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

"Another tough game and another quality opponent but we once again found a way to pull out a victory," Coach Lee Buchanan said. "We found a group that really clicked in the fourth quarter that got us going. Overall, we got a lot of good production from a lot of different players this weekend.

"I'm really proud of our team and our effort the last three days. It is very difficult to play three games in a span of 39 hours and find ways to win all three."

The Panthers trailed 46-40 entering the final period. They trailed 49-44 with nine minutes left, but finished the game on a 26-5 run.

Johnson drained a 3-pointer to make it a one point game. Farr followed up a missed shot with a basket to put the Panthers ahead to stay, 51-50. The Panthers then put the game out of reach with an 11-0 run to go up 65-52 with two minutes left.

The Panthers got off to a slow start in the game. They hit only 2-of-19 from the floor in the first quarter and trailed 12-7. LC rallied in the second period to take a 27-26 halftime lead.
