Women's Basketball: Panthers roll over Toccoa Falls 86-42 to get first win

LaGrange picked up its first win of the young season by rolling over visiting Toccoa Falls 86-42 in Mariotti Gym on Tuesday.

The Panthers never trailed in the game in evening their record at 1-1. Freshman Marilauren Farr led all scorers with 14 points, while sophomore Lauren Johnson had 12. The Panthers had 15 of 16 players score in the game.

"I thought we played very hard tonight. When you take care of the ball and shoot it like we did it is usually a good sign," said Coach Lee Buchanan. " I was proud of our effort and how smart we played. We are still a work in progress but tonight was a good step in the right direction."

The Panthers dominated inside the paint, outscoring the Eagles (1-3) 48-8. The bench, led by Farr, had 48 of the Panthers' points.

The Panthers turned the ball over only nine times, while forcing 23 Eagle turnovers. The Panthers had a 42-30 edge rebounding, with Madison Barker and Kymberli Payno having seven each.

The Panthers led 33-17 at halftime. They scored the first 17 points of the third quarter to put the game out of reach. In the final two quarters, the Panthers shot 61.8 percent from the floor, including making 6-of-8 3-pointers. They finished the game with 51.4 percent shooting.

The Panthers will play at Pensacola Christian on Saturday at 2 p.m.
