Senior Emily Cauldwell threw a one-hitter as LaGrange blanked Berea 7-0 in the first game of a USA South doubleheader Saturday at the LC Softball Complex. The Panthers (6-12, 4-0 USA South) completed the sweep with a 8-2 win in the second game and run its winning streak to four games.
Game 1: Cauldwell (4-5) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Abby Nash singled with one out. Cauldwell walked one and struck out five in the game. The Panthers backed Cauldwell with a 13-hit attack, as five different players had two hits each. Brittany Todd had a double included in her two hits. Madison Martin drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a single.
Game 2: Chelsea Twardoski (2-5) went the distance, giving up four hits and only one earned run. Nash hit her third home run of the season to give Berea a 1-0 in the first inning. The Panthers scored five runs in the third, then three more in the fifth to open up a 8-1 lead. LC had another 13 hits in the game. Michael Keel drove in four runs with a single and a triple. Todd had three hits that included a double and a triple. Taylor Tallant was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
The Panthers host Covenant on Saturday in a USA South doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
