Softball: Panthers lose final two games at Pioneer Classic

LEXINGTON, Ky. - LaGrange finished the Pioneer Classic hosted by Transylvania University with losses to Olivet and St. Mary's (Ind.) on Sunday. The Panthers (2-12) lost to Olivet 14-1 and 6-3 to St. Mary's.

Game 1- Olivet (2-1) scored in each inning as the game ended after five innings due to the 8-run rule. The Panthers had three hits in the game, all doubles. Emily Barrs was 2-for-2, while Kaitlin Richardson had the other double. Carolyn Harkness scored the Panthers' run on a ground out by Kelsey Dietz. Chelsea Twardoski (1-4) started and took the loss for the Panthers.

Game 2- St. Mary's scored five runs in the sixth inning wipe out a 3-1 LC lead. It was the second win in as many days for St. Mary's over the Panthers. Madison Martin had two hits and drove in two runs. Haley Coleman had a run-scoring single. Martin and Coleman each drove in a run in the first to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Martin's second hit of the game scored pinch-runner Monica Murphy in the third inning. 

The Panthers play a USA South doubleheader at Huntingdon on Tuesday.
