Huntingdon came from behind twice with late inning rallies to sweep LaGrange 11-3 and 8-3 in a non-conference counting doubleheader Thursday at the LC Softball Complex. The losses left the Panthers 2-4, while the Hawks improved to 3-5.
Game 1: The Panthers took a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning. Huntingdon tied the game with two runs in the sixth, then exploded for eight runs in the seventh. The Hawks took advantage of nine LC errors, leading to 10 unearned runs. Emily Cauldwell (1-2) took the loss, pitching into the seventh inning, allowing six runs but only one was earned. Emily Barrs had an RBI double and Sydney Hodorff a run-scoring single in the fourth inning. Emily Dietz had a lead off single in the fifth and later scored on an error to put LC up 3-1. The Panthers finished with four hits in the game.
Game 2: The Panthers fell behind 2-0 after the second inning. Freshman Brittany Todd's three-run home run, her first collegiate hit, in the fourth inning gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead. The Hawks answered with a six-run sixth inning to grab an 8-3 lead. Chelsea Twardoski (1-2) went the distance on the mound. Todd and Dietz each had two hits as LC finished with eight hits.
The Panthers host Georgia Southwestern on Saturday and Agnes Scott on Sunday in non-conference doubleheaders.
