Softball: Savannah Sloan announced as new assistant coach

Head softball coach Jennifer Claybrook announces the hiring of Savannah Sloan as assistant coach. Sloan is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a degree in Exercise Science and Wellness and minor in Coaching. She recently completed her Masters in Human Performance at Jacksonville State.

"Savannah's passion for LaGrange College and softball really resonated with me," said Claybrook. "She has a proven record of success and was definitely committed to excellence academically and athletically.  Savannah has a great deal of knowledge and experience to share with our student-athletes.  We are blessed to have her as our assistant coach."

Sloan was a four-year starter at Jacksonville State. She was a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference first team selection. Jacksonville State won a conference regular season championship and a conference tournament tile during her playing career. Sloan was on the All-OVC Tournament team as a senior. She worked as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Jacksonville State, serving as the strength coach for the OVC champion men's golf team. Sloan played professionally in Mannheim, Germany for three months. The team was the German National Champion.

"I am very thankful for every journey that softball has taken me on throughout my life, and I must say that starting my career as a coach is something that I am very passionate about," said Sloan. "LaGrange College is my new home! Sharing my knowledge of softball with girls that share the same love of the game as me is truly a blessing. I want to give back to the sport that has given me everything. Coach Claybrook has given me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I cannot wait to share the field with her. I look forward to what is in store! Go Panthers!"
