Men's Tennis: Panthers take West Division leader Covenant down to the wire

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The LaGrange men's tennis team took USA South West Division leader Covenant down to the wire before falling 5-4 on Saturday. The Panthers, now 13-5, saw their five match winning streak end. They finished 7-3 in conference play.

"So proud of the heart, effort, and commitment of this team this year," said Coach Matt Donnett. "It's a blessing for our coaching staff to work with them on a daily basis. We will take few days off for spring break and then get back to it to make that final push to conference."

Alan Valdez, Carlos Valdez, and Geoffrey Martin won their respective matches at #3, #5, and #6 singles to tie the match at 4-4. Covenant (13-3, 7-1 USA South), ranked 20th in the region, took the match at #4 singles. The Scots' Taylor Galloway defeated LC's John Mitchell Benton in a hard-fought three set match, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.

The Panthers close out the regular season at Oglethorpe on April 10.
