Men's Tennis: Panthers edge Piedmont 5-4 to pick up key USA South win

LaGrange picked up a key USA South win, edging visiting Piedmont 5-4 on Saturday. The Panthers upped their season record to 5-2 and 2-1 in conference play. Piedmont is now 3-3 and 2-1.

Freshman Carlos Valdez's win at #5 singles clinched the match for LC. Valdez beat Sam Niebanck in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, and 7-6. Piedmont won two of the three doubles matches and the #1 singles match to go up 3-1. The Panthers took the #2, #3, and #4 singles matches to take a 4-3 lead, but the Lions tied the match with a win at #6 singles.

The Panthers host Brevard on Sunday in a non-conference match.
