Men's Basketball: Panthers fall 88-82 at Piedmont in USA South game

DEMOREST, Ga. - LaGrange fell 88-82 at Piedmont in a USA South game Sunday. The Panthers are 7-7-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Sophomores Elijah Adedoyin and Travis Thompson each had 18 points for LC. Thompson was 6-of-7 from the floor in setting a season and career high. Justyn Olson was a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range and finished with 11 points, while Alex Bonner added 10 points.

In the first half, Thompson's put back of a missed shot started a 13-0 run for the Panthers to erase a five-point deficit. Drew Vanderbrook's trey finished the spurt for a 26-18 lead with 11 minutes left in the half.

Piedmont (6-7, 2-2 USA South) chipped away at the Panthers' lead. Chase England, who led all scorers with 25 points, hit a 3-pointer to put the Lions back up 36-34. Vanderbrook's basket tied the game for the last time at 36, as Piedmont went up 45-40 at halftime.

The Lions kept the Panthers at bay in the second half, eventually taking a 61-51 lead with 12 minutes remaining. LC battled back and got within four, 78-74, on Jamison McCray's shot with 4:20 left. The Panthers could not draw closer the rest of the way.

The Panthers host Averett and Ferrum next Saturday and Sunday in USA South conference games.
