MIAMI, Fla. - Hartwick stopped LaGrange 90-77 on Monday at the HoopMIA D3 Holiday Shootout. The Panthers went 0-2 in the tournament and are 7-4 on the season.
"Coming to Miami was a great test for our program. Unfortunately, not many of our players studied for this test," Coach Kendal Wallace stated. "Playing Susquehanna and Hartwick exposed our weaknesses. I was very disappointed in how we played.
"Some of our guys don't appreciate or respect the game nor their teammates wholly. We have a lot of maturing to do before our last non-conference game against a very good Thomas University team."
Hartwick (7-2) got a game-high 21 points from Brandon Laforest. Jake Sinicki followed with 15 points and Joey Lufkin had 14.
LC led by as many as eight points in the first half. Olson's layup put the Panthers up 28-20 with 6:23 left in the half. But the Hawks outscored the Panthers 16-6 for the rest of the half to take a 36-34 lead.
In the second half, the Panthers were held to 32.6 percent shooting, including making just 5-of-17 from 3-point range. Hartwick led by as many as 21 points, before the Panthers scored the game's final seven points.
