LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.- LaGrange improved to 2-1 with a 77-60 win over the University of Dallas at the Covenant College Classic on Saturday.
Justyn Olson led the Panthers for the second straight game with a game-high 17 points. Olson had 46 points in the tournament. Elijah Adedoyin and Jamison McCray had 13 and 11 points respectively off the bench. The Panther reserves contributed 42 points in the game.
The Crusaders (1-2) led 28-20 with 9:33 remaining in the first half. The Panthers rallied, going back on top 33-32 when Travis Thompson tipped in Tyler Langston's missed shot. LC would never trail again.
McCray hit a three-pointer to put the Panthers up 43-35 with two minutes left in the half. Olson's jumper in the final seconds made it 45-38 at the half.
Dallas shot 51.7 percent in the first half, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range, but was just 1-of-9 at the free throw line. The Panthers shut down the Crusaders in the second half.
The Panthers held the Crusaders to 29.6 percent shooting in the second half. Dallas made only 5-of-22 free throws for the game.
LC turned a three-point lead into 13 with a 13-3 spurt over a four-minute span. Thompson's dunk finished the run with a dunk to make it 60-47.
The Panthers continued to build the lead. Adedoyin's basket with 3:35 left gave the Panthers their largest lead, 77-56.
LC hosts Rust on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
