Men's Basketball: Emory & Henry edges Panthers 80-78 with shot at buzzer

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Emory & Henry scored at the buzzer to down LaGrange 80-78 at the Covenant College Classic on Friday.

The Panthers got a game-high 29 points from Justyn Olson. Olson tied the game at 78 with a 3-pointer with seven seconds left. The senior was 6-of-9 from 3-point range in the game. 

But Emory & Henry's Myles Turner drove for the winning basket as time ran out for the 80-78 final. Turner finished the game with 14 points. Ryan Gravley led the Hornets (2-0) with 15 points.

Elijah Adedoyin had 14 points off the bench for LC. Drew Vanderbrook added 13 points. 

The Panthers trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half. They chipped away at the lead, cutting the Hornets' lead to four, 39-35, after a basket by Travis Thompson. E & H led 42-36 at the half.

LaGrange fell behind by 11 at the outset of the second half. The Panthers took their only lead of the game, 62-61, as Vanderbrook scored off an assist from Tyler Langston with nine minutes left.

The Hornets held a 78-72 lead with 1:20 left. The Panthers fought back to tie the game. Adedoyin hit a trey, then Olson made his to tie the game before Turner made his game-winner.

The Panthers play the University of Dallas on Saturday in their game of the tournament.
