Golf: Panthers fifth after second round of USA South Tournament

Freshman Ben Womack shot an even par 72 to lead the LaGrange golf team in the second round of the USA South Tournament on Friday. The Panthers recorded a second straight team score of 302 for a two-day total of 604. LC is three shots back of fourth place Maryville and five behind third place N.C. Wesleyan heading into the final round Saturday.

Womack was 2-over par on the front nine. He did not make a bogey and recorded two birdies on the back nine. Womack was one of the few golfers to shoot under par on Highland Country Club's back nine. The course did not give up a single round under par Friday.

Nathan Garner bounced back from a first round 82 with a 1-over par 73. Sam Rogers (78), Cameron Starr (79), and Jake Nelson (80) rounded out the scoring for LC.
