Golf: Panthers tied for 12th heading to final round of Division III championship

HOWEY-in-the-HILLS, Fla. - The LaGrange golf team is tied for 12th after three rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship being played at the Mission Inn Resort & Club El Campeon course.

The Panthers shot a team total of 309 for the second straight day. They are tied with Illinois Wesleyan with a 914 total score.

"As a team we're just not clicking and we're making too many big numbers which is killing us," Coach Lee Richter said. "This is a tough course and we're making it harder by making those big numbers.

"We're not playing terrible, but as a team we're not playing anywhere close to how we're capable of. Tomorrow we'll try to play well to end on a high note and see how we finish."

Anthony Scolapio had 2-over par 74 for the Panthers on Thursday. He played his final 10 holes at 2-under par with no bogeys.

Logan Lanier was one stroke back of Scolapio with a 75. Lanier is tied for ninth in the individual standings with a three round total of 220, just three shots out of first place.

Drew Duffie and Osborn Theam each had rounds of 80, while Eric Havixbeck finished with an 82.
