The LaGrange golf team received an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Championship as announced Monday. The national tournament will be held May 16-19 at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Panthers will be playing in their fourth straight national tournament and making their 10th appearance overall. They have finished in the top 15 in the last three tournaments, including a runner-up finish in 2015. LC is ranked sixth in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll.
LaGrange is one of four USA South conference schools in the tournament. The Panthers are joined by top-ranked Huntingdon, fifth-ranked Methodist, and ninth-ranked Greensboro.
The Panthers played in the NCAA Fall Preview at the Mission Inn course in the fall, finishing 13th. Senior Logan Lanier was the top finisher for LC. Lanier enters the NCAA tournament ranked second in the Golfstat Division III player rankings. Senior Osborn Theam is 15th in the Golfstat rankings.
