Golf: No. 5 Panthers tie for fourth at Discover Dekalb Emory Invite

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The fifth-ranked LaGrange golf team tied for fourth at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invite on Sunday at the Smoke Rise Country Club. The Panthers improved their first round score by 14 shots for a team round of 283 for a tournament total of 580.

Top-ranked Huntingdon won the tournament by one shot over host Emory. Methodist was third, followed by the Panthers and Berry.

Seniors Logan Lanier and Osborn Theam both finished in the Top 10 of the individual standings. Lanier had a final round two-under par 68 and tied for second with a 138 total. Theam matched Lanier's score and tied for eighth with a 142 total.

Eric Havixbeck had a one over par 71, improving by eight shots over his first round score, and had a 150 total. Anthony Scolapio (79=153) and Drew Duffie (76=160) rounded out the scoring for LC.

The Panthers start play in the USA South Tournament on Thursday at Highland Country Club in LaGrange.
