Golf: Panthers move up to ninth after second round of Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The LaGrange golf team moved up to ninth after the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.

The Panthers had a team score of 293 for a two-day total of 592. Emory moved into the lead, followed by defending national champion Claremont-Mudd-Scrips and Oglethorpe, who are tied for second, and first round leader Washington & Jefferson. LC is only five shots back of Greensboro and Illinois Wesleyan, who are tied for fifth.

Freshman Drew Duffie and Eric Havixbeck led the Panthers in the second round. Both golfers had even par rounds of 72 over the Pine Lakes course of the Jekyll Island Golf Club. One shot back was senior Logan Lanier with a round of 73. Anthony Scolapio (76) and Osborn Theam (80) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers.

The third and final round will be held Sunday.
