Golf: Theam, Lanier finish 1-2 as Panthers place second at Chick-fil-A Invitational

ROME, Ga.- Seniors Osborn Theam and Logan Lanier finished 1-2 in the individual standings as the LaGrange golf team placed second at the Chick-fil-A Invitational played at the Stonebridge Golf Club.

Fifth-ranked Rhodes edged the Panthers by one stroke for the team title. The Panthers trailed by as many as seven shots before staging a rally to finish the round at 291 for a 572 total. Tournament host Berry was a distant third, 24 shots back of the Panthers.

Theam shot a final round 2-under par 70 for a 135 total, three shots ahead of Lanier, who carded a 71 to finish at 138. Theam won his second collegiate title and first since his freshman year. He tied for 20th at last year's Chick-fil-A tournament.

Lanier closed out the fall with his third straight Top 5 finish. He tied for the individual title at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational and last week was fourth at the Golfweek Fall Invitational.

Freshmen Landon Hicks and Drew Duffie had rounds of 74 and 76 respectively, finishing the tournament tied for 22nd. Senior Anthony Scolapio rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with a 159 total. 

The tournament concluded the fall schedule for the Panthers.
