ROME, Ga. - Led by senior Osborn Theam's career round, the LaGrange golf team surged to the lead at the Chick-fil-A Invitational being played at the Stonebridge Golf Club.
The Panthers had a team round of 7-under par 281 and lead fifth-ranked Rhodes by five shots.
Theam set a career record with a 7-under par 65. He had nine birdies on the round against only two bogeys. Theam shot a 5-under par 31 on the front nine.
Two shots back of Theam is fellow senior Logan Lanier, who fired a 5-under par 67. Lanier had a bogey free round and carded five birdies.
Drew Duffie had a round of 74. Duffie was five over par on his round before recording an eagle on the par 5 14th hole and adding a birdie on 16. Anthony Scolapio followed with a 75 and Lance Hicks a 76 to round out the scoring for the Panthers.
The tournament concludes Tuesday and is the final fall event for the Panthers.
