Golf: Lanier ties for individual title as Panthers finish second at Oglethorpe tournament

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Seniors Logan Lanier and Osborn Theam led the LaGrange golf team to a second place finish at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational that ended Tuesday at the Royal Lakes Country Club.

Lanier tied with Greensboro's Levi Grogan for individual honors with a closing round 4-under par 68 for a 138 total. Theam was one shot back of Lanier and Grogan with a 139 total after a final round 1-under par 71.

The Panthers had a two-day team total of 572, just one shot back of Greensboro. LC tied The Pride for best team round of the day with a 289 total.

Freshman Drew Duffie had a final round 74 for a 147 total to tie for 19th. Eric Havixbeck (148) and Anthony Scolapio (152) rounded out the Panthers' scoring.

The Panthers play in the Golfweek Fall Invitational in Destin, Fla. on Oct. 9-11.
